Prince Philip's knighthood, a good thing at the wrong time in the wrong way.

The timing, on Australia Day, that shocked me. It was bound to draw the anti-British republicans. Already a Commander of the Order, it was right and proper to elevate His Royal Highness to the Knighthood new it is reintroduced. But it should have been done at a better time, like on HRH's birthday in context of praise for his achievements. We now see that Mr Abbott is not just out of touch with the Electorate, but does not care. He now says he has changed and will listen, but even if he can and does, it may be too late to save him.
Prime minister also says he was not aware of growing backbench dissent and appears to blame Philip Ruddock for not alerting him
