Is Maggie Kirkpatrick guilty? Wait and see

Is Maggie Kirkpatrick guilty? Wait and see if anyone else is emboldened to come forward with similar accusations. In the other Celebrity cases, the first accusation was then backed up by others who claimed they were also victims. Messagers on the InterNet that rant against paedophiles are basing their opinions on serial and persistent abusers, not someone who may have briefly transgressed once and erased the memory of it.
Being found "guilty" by a judge means very little. Many cases are reversed on appeal, meaning the first judge was wrong. This verdict did not find on fact, but was the judge's personal prejudice in evaluating the persons involved.
Ms Kirkpatrick protests her innocence. People have been wrongly condemned in the past while correctly denying their guilt. With our imperfect Legal System, there may be more, including the celebrity witch-hunt. Australians love to chop down tall poppies, and delight in their demise.
Should a person’s oeuvre of created work be valued when the creator is not? Only recently is the music of Wagner being played by Jews and in Israel, because of his known anti-Semitic values. Fatty Arbuckle was the most popular Holywood comedian before WWI, but when he was accused of rape and murder, even when he was cleared of the charges, his career was essentially over, and while the ban on his films was lifted he is not remembered alongside Chaplin, Lloyd and Keaton as he deserved.
This sad case aside, Ms Kirkpatrick deserves to be remembered for her diverse work on stage and screen, and not have her career tarnished by a single accusation.

Australian actor Maggie Kirkpatrick, who starred as The Freak in the hit television show Prisoner, is found guilty of child sex offences committed 31 years ago.
