The
only people who benefit from "tough on crime" are the lawyers and
others in the profitable business of "criminal justice". It is the same
principle behind strict sharia and should have no place in a democratic
society that regards all people as individuals of worth.
Soaring
recidivism rates reflect a failure to rehabilitate prisoners and a lack
of spending on programs that prevent crime, minister says.
